The largest known non-Mersenne prime is equal to \(10,223 \times 2^{31,172,165} + 1\), which has 9,383,761 digits. It was discovered on 2016, and is currently the ninth largest known prime.[1] It is also the largest known Proth prime.[2].

The last time a non-Proth prime was the largest known non-Mersenne prime was in 2003.[citation needed]
