Giga- is an SI prefix meaning one billion.^[1] Its name comes from Greek "gigas", meaning giant.

The reciprocal of this prefix is nano-, from Greek "nanos" meaning dwarf.

Giga- + Kilo- = Tera-

Giga- + milli- = mega-
